6 Weeks

What a STUD!
Miles at 6 weeks, roughly 13 lbs.
Lauren at 6 weeks, roughly 9lbs.

We went to visit one of my social work co-workers who also had a baby this summer. 3 of the 4 social workers in my district welcomed little ones this summer! This is Alivia and Lauren
Liam and Miles in their matching outfits. Liam was not to excited about this picture or he is doing the thriller dance, not sure?
They don't look like it in this picture but they are roughly 5lbs. apart
Sisters and brothers!

5 weeks and More

Such a big boy, always sucking on his hand!

Big Sister was trying to take his lion away and he wanted to put up a fight!

Give that back to me!

I had to attend a training at work in the morning last week. The night before, Kyle gave Miles a bottle to see if he would take it the following day. I was only going to be gone for about 4 hours. He sucked down the bottle (4.5 ounces) and wanted more. The next day, he drank two bottles and was not happy that there wasn't anymore. I have started pumping once a day now and packing away a 5 oz. bottle in the freezer for when I go back to work in October.

Dad made Lauren a tree swing! She likes it...if you can't tell!

Blackberry Farm free day again. Why are rocks so exciting?

Lauren, Miyah, and Gabby. Their grandma bought the girls bonnets, they are adorable!

I am sure this would be her permanent chair if she attended school back in the day.  I can just hear her teachers now, "Lauren is so smart but she can't stop talking!"

We built a fairy garden (fairy farm) after Lauren saw the neighbors.

At bug fest

I did it!

Trying to catch a bug

This pic cracks me up. I was trying to take a self-portrait of Miles in the Moby facing out and this was the best I could do with my short arms. Contrary to what his face says, he loves facing outward. It is a good "poop position" too when he is backed up.

Lauren Lately...

Kyle and I were talking the other day. We think Lauren lives in fantasy world about 90% of the time. Always imagining, creating, being someone else...

Rolling down the hill at the Sugar Grove Corn Boil concert

Riding the 90 ft. zip line at a local park; our new favorite hot spot!

Being a monster at the concert! Watch out...she's a scary one!
Playing dead at the same concert! People around us thought she was actually hurt and I wasn't responding to her. I kindly informed them that she was not hurt, just dead.
Picking apples at our friend's house
I think she snitched about 5 apples while we were there!
Running around with Dad at the Farmer's Market

Miles 4 weeks, Lauren's Silliness

Miles is getting so silly these days like his sister. We are starting to hear the "G-sounding" coo when he is happy about something...mainly lights, bath time, and Mommy's face. He is such a good sleeper at night. The past few nights he has only woken 1 after going down around 9:30-10. He will nurse again around 6 when big sister wakes but generally falls back asleep for a few hours. He definitely has a cranky time around supper and will stay awake until bed time. We are trying to find things that soothe him. He likes walks at night and last night I did the dishes with him in the Moby and he settled down to the sound of the water running.

Lauren has been extra silly lately herself too. The neighbor caught her talking to herself in the garage the other day; he found that pretty amusing. Here are few things:

1. At supper Dad told her she needed to "clean her plate" before getting dessert. She immediately started crying and said that she couldn't reach. Kyle asked her what she was talking about and she said I can't reach the sink to wash the dishes. So literal! We had to explain that meant to eat all the food on your plate.

2. Lauren has had a baby in her tummy the entire time I was pregnant but hers has yet to be evicted. She told us the other day that one day it was just going to "slide out of her vagina" (actions were performed as well). We are definitely glad we made the decision to have her leave during my labor/delivery, I am most positive she would have re-enacted it.

3. She has been curious as to why Kyle can use the restroom standing up. I asked her why boys can use the restroom standing up but girls can't trying to get her to recognize is was because we have different private parts. She said it was because girls were too small. Then yesterday she told Kyle "he could pee standing up because the pee comes out of the hole at the bottom of his worm". Still not sure where this "worm" reference came from since we have always used the correct anatomical names.

She requested this "Cat in the Hat" picture to be taken. She is Sally.

Clowns, Blackberry Farms, and Sibling Comparisons

These cooler temperatures this week have been AMAZING!! I love getting out of the house and not coming home dripping in sweat. I took Miles to his next pediatrician appointment and when I pulled him out of the car he sucked in air at how cold it was (low 70's)...this kid is getting used to scorching hot temps.

We enjoyed some "Music Under the Stars" in our Town Square Friday night. We all wore long sleeves and pants and breathed in the fresh cold air. Miles even got to wear a hat! When I took this picture I immediately had flashbacks to Lauren looking the same. What do you think?

Speaking of the Little Miss, we went to see the Merry Heart Clowns again at the library. Lauren is absolutely obsessed with these clowns. She had to wear her stripe dress and told the clown, Lily, it was for her. Lily made them all balloon dogs before they left. Lauren's balloon popped in the parking lot so I quickly ran back inside to get her another one. Our friends saw what happened and offered one of theirs while I was inside so she came home with two. I wouldn't normally go back in to get her one but our little bunny, Poss, passed away this week and Lauren has been rather emotional about it. Anyways...Lily did a bunch of magic tricks for the kids and now Lauren thinks she can do magic. She would put her balloon in my work bag and then run back to her room, turn around 3 times, and run back up to make it "change colors". Kyle was actually just switching the 2 balloons while she was back in her room. She was quite impressed with her magic.
 I made it change colors!
On Thursday, we went to Blackberry Farms (our local Living History Farms) for free admission day. Sitting in the little red schoolhouse desk.
Going for a train ride. She wasn't so sure at first.
 This is fun!
 Miles enjoyed it too.
We get to go through a tunnel!
Pony rides. This place was great. Free train rides, pony rides, and carousel.
Here's another comparison...I really love baby reflexes, this one being the tonic neck reflex (ATNR)
Miles had his ped. appt on Friday morning. He now weighs 10lbs. 4oz. (up 1 pound in 1 week!!!!). He moved from the 50th to 75th percentile for weight. There is just something so gratifying to me knowing that I can provide nourishment for my child. The pediatrician said they like to see 10 ounces of weight gain by this time and we had 31. He asked me how it was going feeding all the time, ha! Because he is gaining stellar weight and he is the 2nd baby, pediatrician said we can skip the next appointment and see him at 2 months. Yea!
