Some of you may know that my mom, her friend, and I are all participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this June. We will walk 39.3 miles over two days. The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, whose mission is to fund access to care and finding a cure. They provide funding to organizations all over the country in five areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs.
To me, this walk is very important. My great-grandmother survived breast cancer but her two of her daughters were not as fortunate. I have seen how my family has had to deal with the disease and want to walk my butt off in order to help raise money so it does not continue down our family tree.
In order to participate in the walk, each individual must raise $1800.00! Yep, you read that right: I have to raise that amount in order to even walk! If anyone is willing to support my fight, they can click on the link below and make a donation online or they can send me a check in the mail made out to: Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Remember that every three minutes, another woman is diagnosed with breast cancer just in the United States!
