Kyle and I were chatting in the car this morning about the election and of course Obama's win. We discussed how our children will one day learn in history class about when the first African-American man was elected for president. We then got to laughing when we imagined the conversation that we would have with them.
Child: Mom, Dad, did you know that Barack Obama was the first African-American president?
Us: Yep, we were actually living in Chicago at the time not that far from the HUGE rally that he had in Grant Park.
Child: WOW! You guys are cool parents. Did you vote for him?
Us: Nope.
And then we will have to explain why, but I am sure that our children will only realize how monumental this election was and not the issues ten years from now. As much as we wanted McCain to be the next President, that is not what God had in store for our nation. We will continue to pray for Obama and his family in this role and we celebrate this historical moment for the African American community and the U.S.

Agreed. As we consider all that has happened over the past week, we still need to continue to focus on the fact that God is in charge no matter what. His plan is in place no matter what WE do or don't do. There are times, that the WE do part makes life hard for many of us and that is what we have to live with. This has been happening since the beginning of time.
